Comparison of Theistic and Deistic Claims in the Context of God's Attribute of Perfection

Abstract

Differences about the existence of God, His attributes, and His relationship with the universe have led to the emergence of different approaches to God. The approach of theistic religions to the existence of God and the continuity of his relationship with the universe distinguishes them from other approaches to God. In this article, we will examine the conceptions of God in deism and theism, comparing the ideas of theistic religions and deism about God. In theistic thought, the attribute of perfection (power) attributed to God and His relationship with the universe and humanity as a result of this perfection are worthy of examination. The idea of the existence of a God who is omnipotent in the absolute sense, who has knowledge of everything, and who can constantly intervene in the universe encourages research about Him. On the other hand, in deism, which considers God to have a function of creating and leaving things to their own devices, God's relationship with the universe is also noteworthy. It is also impossible to associate a God who does not intervene in the universe with concepts such as revelation, prophecy, and prayer, which are accepted in theism. In this context, the deist conception of a God who exists but does not intervene is worthy of examination. Our study aims to examine and compare these approaches to God and to present a comprehensive view on the subject.
